GATHERING MUSIC We Walk His Way
WELCOME
OPENING SONG Brave by Sara Bareilles
You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
When they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
[Chorus]
Say what you wanna say and let the words fall out
Honestly, I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say, and let the words fall out
Honestly, I want see you be brave
I just wanna see you (3x)
I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you (3x)
I wanna see you be brave (repeat Chorus)
OPENING PRAYER
PASSING OF THE PEACE
Peace be with you… ...and also with you
SONG True Colors by Cyndi Lauper
You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh, I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small
[Chorus]
I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow
Show me a smile then
Don't be unhappy
Can't remember when
I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there
[Chorus]
SCRIPTURE Mark 2:1 - 4
READING “At the New York City AIDS Memorial” by Stefania Gomez
SONG OF PREPARATION We Resist by Mark Miller
We resist; we refuse to let hatred in.
We rise up. We won’t back down.
We’re in this till the end.
Pray for your enemies!
Welcome the stranger!
Show love to your neighbor!
We’re in this till the end.
SERMON Rev. Rebecca Anderson
MUSIC FOR REFLECTION Good Day by Flamy Grant
Chorus
A good day to come back home
You sent me away, but I was never alone
You were afraid that there was not enough
But you can't run out of love
So I'm here to stay
And I'm sitting in the front row
'Cause it's a good day
To come out of the shadow
God made me good in every way
So I'll raise my voice
To celebrate a good day

PASTORAL PRAYER & LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father/Creator/Parent, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,

CLOSING SONG Changed by Aaron Niequist
We have been blessed
Now we’re going to be a blessing
We have been loved
Now we’re going to bring love
We’ve been invited- gonna share the invitation
We have been changed- to bring change, to bring change (2x)
I’m gonna, thank you for this new life,
Thank you for the invitation!
God, we want to live it
Loud enough to shake the nations, in your name!
We have been saved
Gonna shout the Savior
We have been found,
Gonna turn over every stone
We’ve been empowered
To love the world to Heaven
We have been changed- to bring change, to bring change (3x)
BENEDICTION
POSTLUDE Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan
I know you wanted me to stay
But I can’t ignore the crazy visions of me in L.A.
And I heard that there’s a special place
Where boys and girls can all be queen every single day
I’m having wicked dreams of leaving Tennessee
Hear Santa Monica, I swear it’s calling me
Won’t make my mama proud, it’s gonna cause a scene
She sees her baby girl, I know she’s gonna scream
Pre-chorus
God, what have you done? You’re pink pony girl
And you dance at the club, Oh mama, I’m just having fun
On the stage in my heels, It’s where I belong down at the
Chorus
Pink Pony club, I’m gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club, I’m gonna keep on dancing down in
West Hollywood, I’m gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club, Pink Pony Club
Pre-chorus and Chorus

Disability Pride Parade
Sat, July 26th, 11 a.m.
The Disability Justice small group that met this spring broaded our horizons. Many of us started newly to notice aspects of the world, our church, and language that are (or may be) disabling to others. Some of us started to notice more (and more kinds of) people than we had before!! What else have we been missing?
July is Disability Pride Month, a time to "celebrate people with disabilities, commemorate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and promote disability culture and visibility." And you can get in on it! Attend and cheer on the Chicago Disability Pride Parade. The route starts at 401 S Plymouth Court, goes 1/2 block west on Van Buren before going North on Dearborn, until it arrives at Daley Plaza for the post-parade festivities.
Save the date and, if you'd like to be a point person to meet up with other Bethanians, let Rebecca know right away.
